Tiles
Popham Design. It was a discovery of Luisa, who appreciated its liveliness and exuberance. Founded in 2007 by the Americans Caitlin and Samuel Dowe-Sandes, Popham design is a design studio and bespoke tile workshop based in Marrakech, Morocco. The company designs and manufactures handmade cement tiles that are exported all over the world, adorning luxury hotels, restaurants and residences from San Francisco to Sydney. The idea for Popham design was simple: celebrate and maintain traditional craftsmanship, updating it with modern patterns and color combinations.
The collection draws inspiration from Morocco and its rich history of motifs, along with different influences such as the motif of raindrops coming down from a glass, the shadow cast by a palm tree under the burning African sun or a delicate crescent / moon in high in a velvety sky.
The cement tiles are made with steel molds, the motifs are in brass, they are handmade, each order is processed individually. The formats are defined, shapes, dimensions, squares, hexagonal. Imperfections: they are an integral part of the product and must be accepted as a natural consequence of the work done entirely by hand.
