A strong, determined and brave vision

25 years ago Czech entrepreneur and engineer Jan Rabell acquired the ailing Janštejn Glassworks, founded at the start of the 19th century approximately 140 kilometres southeast of Prague. Mr. Rabell’s vision was to restore the factory to its former prestige and ensure that the ages-old Bohemian glassmaking tradition endured into the 21st century.

With Brokis, Mr. Rabell and his team, with Lucie Koldova as art director, created a lighting brand offering entirely different products than those previously produced at Janštejn Glassworks, original and innovative.

New ambitious goals were set during the Glassmakers' night August 2022 in Janstejn: the strengthening of production structures, cultural settlements, museums and training schools for the conservation of the production techniques that have made the pride of this region for centuries.
